Sub-accounts let a fund give a manager trading API keys with withdrawal permissions disabled. Balances are reported per sub-account, which the administrator uses for NAV, and withdrawals are restricted to whitelisted addresses controlled by the custodian or the platform.
For an allocator, the questions are whether the sub-account is in the fund's name, who holds the withdrawal-enabled keys and how often balances are reconciled to the administrator's records.
